Tiger Times

Well, we did it...proud keepers of three tigers...all big & strong...ALL thanks to the many of you that truly care! We have always been blessed to be able to house our gentile giant, Siberian Tiger, Bahl-Shoy. We were even honored with one other tiger, Saber, years ago...a truly wonderful old man! None of us ever expected to try to house & feed three tigers at once...but surprise...its a boy & a girl! A now bouncing boy & girl! Tigger & Pumpkin have now been with us since October of last year, & look like completely different tigers! When Fish & Game first told me about a production company that was going out of business & cant afford to feed their animals anymore, I was not at all prepared for what I was walking into. This situation had apparently been going on for some time & I could not believe my eyes. There were over a dozen big cats & bears that were literally starving to death. Right away I told Fish & Game that we had room for two smaller cats & that I would start making phone calls. Immediately we took in two black leopards & two foxes. Between Fish & Game & us, we were able to place all but four tigers. One in particular caught my eye&every time I went over; she was getting thinner & thinner. I couldnt believe that she even had the strength to stand, so I told Fish & Game that we were taking her. There were four tigers left, two whites & two standards. The owner finally found a home for the two whites at an out of state zoo, but they could come get them right away, & we still couldnt find a home for the last male, & time was running out. We were pretty sure that if no one claimed him soon, he would be put down. Fish & Game were great¬ only did they help place all the animals, they gave us special permission to extend the time the two tigers could stay there, giving us time to raise the funds & put the cages up to move Tigger & Pumpkin. There was no way we could leave Tigger behind. We sent a mass e-mail out & many of you sent donations to help. We somehow were able to raise enough money not only to buy the remaining materials to finish the cages, but to also help us buy food to make sure the last four tigers continued to be fed until they could all be taken off to their new homes. All in all, we were able to buy enough meat for just over three months! A special thank you to our guardian angels, Gary & Isis Jones from Full Sail University & Dargin Watts from Burchmore Group Entertainment, who went beyond to assure us the funds to finish the cages while juggling the money for their meat bill. Also, a huge thank you to our volunteers & the crew from the Altamonte Home Depot that took the time to do VERY hard labor in Very bad heat to take down a bunch of caging at one facility & move it & build it at our place. All that had anything to do with this crusade were instrumental in keeping these tigers alive & giving them a new life. Without the help of all involved, Pumpkin would not have made it to see her 12th birthday, & on July 11th, Tigger would not be celebrating his 13th! Noble lives were saved through generosity & hard work! Healthy, happy, bouncing tigers!
